Pet dogs and owners I am an avid fan of G Sampath, a satirist and social affairs editor of The Hindu. His article in Sunday Magazine dt 28/8/22 like many of his articles brought smile on my face and opened my eyes to many realities around me. The article was about the owners of pet dogs in the guise of taking a walk with their pet with the leash in one hand, leads it to unload it's poop in the neighborhood and walks away as nothing happened. This reminded me my visit to London in 2016 for my daughter's baby shower. A stroll in the park in the early hours and in the evening I have seen the pet owners walking in the park with a scoop in one hand, and the leash in the other. When the dog halts for poop he waits patiently near the pet, clear the area with the scoop in hand take the disposable bag from the pocket collect the excreta and deposits in the designated place. I have a neighbour a pure vegetarian having more than one gigantic pets in house to guard his accumulated wealth from the thieves. He is an early riser a, 5 am man as explained by Robin Sharma. In the wee hours releases his dogs and invariably these two come in front of our gate and releases. By a blow of whistle by the owner they get back into the owner's house. This was noticed only after a thorough investigation of many days by my wife. She after suffering many days of poop cleaning near our gate have caught him red handed. But unable to protest because of his noble credentials took other methods to ward off the quadruped intruders. I am reminded of above article today because two more neighbours have taken a keen interest as dog owners cum quadruped intruders who always forget the good etiquette of keeping the neighborhood clean. Tribute to a teacher

The year was 1964, I was in class ix, the class teacher on unexpected leave and the athletic well built Malayalam Pandit K T Joseph entered the class.  He  was our Malayalam teacher elegant in both prose and poem of literature.
