Edison and his mother
An incident about the confidential note which Edison's teacher wrote about his son's performance in school. It was written 'do not sent your child to school from tomorrow; he is mentally ill'. After reading the note the mother was in tears and she told his son that the teacher had written that your son was a genius, and there is no teacher in school to his capacity.
Next day onwards she took the responsibility to teach him at home and he becoming the world's greatest inventor is history.
Many years after his mother's demise, a folded note was found in the families belongings, which stated the real reason. Many thinkers and historians have reacted and written about Edison's mind. But at this point of time my mind and heart goes out to those noble mothers who have dedicated their life for the welfare of their children.
Happy are those parents now who have invested their time and energy for the upbringing of their wards, enjoying their retired life seeing the children's glorious life with their own families elsewhere.
An emotive moment to revisit those days when my wife devoted her full energy in the upbringing of our children. Being a teacher herself she took care of daily homework of our three children. For their full concentration in daily studies, she conducted tuition classes after returning home from her strenous teacher duty at school. She selected two to three students from classes where our children are studying; like first standard for young one, third and fifth for elder ones. This was going on from the beginning of the academic year.
The quarterly exam result was out, my younger son in first standard came out of the class with the report card. Parents of children with poor performance looked into the report card of good performers. One such parent asked my son, whether he is taking tution and where. He brought his friend and his mother to our home for tuition. The boy's mother expressed her happiness by the smart strategy and said ' he never mentioned that his own mother was his tution teacher'! A marketing strategy ab initio; excelling in his career even today.
