Friends at the golden age
There is no need to search my memory to unearth the most important friend in my life. Also there does not arise the selection process, to visualise the front runner at this golden age.
I would like to go back to my primary school period where I came across a neighbour friend's relative who used to visit their house during school holidays. Most pampered neighborhood friends name is P J Joy. Evenings a baker used to visit houses with fresh baked items like cakes, biscuits and sweet buns. At the sound of his cycle bell Joy and his younger brother Alosius would cover the metal tin picking their choicest eatables. They could afford to buy as his father was earning well in a faraway city.
The neighbour's relative who frequented their house was none other than their cousin Anto. We made contact with him and played with tennis balls and marbles. But these relationships could not last long as their mother moved to Ernakulam with their children, subsequently moved to Madras to be with husband.
There was no further interaction with Joy or Anto till I moved to Santa Cruz High school, Cochin.
Here I met and renewed my contact again. Next four years we used to meet on and off but a robust friendship could not materialize. But we are destined to lasting friendship, after a gap of two years, we met in Albert's College for graduation.
After graduation I had to migrate to Madras in search of a job. My uncle who helped me for my education by giving financial support and moral backing was my natural choice to build my future career. What a turn of events; my uncle was sharing a common house with his friend and family. Here again my childhood friend Joy shared the house with me and we came under one roof.
Many twists and turns, again Anto contacted me from Cochin about the Alumni of college mates. Also asked me whether I am interested to take up a part time job in a Pharma marketing company in Chennai. This I continued from 2012 -14. And the friendship continues...He is now the Admin of our WhatsApp group.
Wow. Our common friend
