A mild shock at noon
We were watching the live telecast of homage to singer S Janaki, my neighbour's head appeared on the grill door. She asked; is your water taps in working condition, and the water flow good? She was preparing for washing of clothes and suddenly water stopped from the taps. Is there any message about the stoppage of water in the Mygate app.?
It was 12 00 noon and my wife scanning the messages from mygate informed her that there is a warning for judicious usage of water, as there is an unidentified problem of pumping into the storage tank which is being investigated. By the time we checked the water flow for storing water into buckets for emergency use, supply completely stopped. Our anxiety had been, after lunch how to clean the utensils, and wash our hands and mouth.
Yesterday's Hindu property plus edition became handy to clence hands and utensils until water is restored. My anxiety was restoration of water supply after a compulsory brief nap(siesta) in the afternoon, taking bath and attending evening service at Church.
The ambiguous situation did not allow me to take full nap in the afternoon, and by the time I attended the bathroom, water supply was retored. Our happiness had no bounds, thanked the Admin and technical team in supplying and restoring our confidence. In the Church service we prayed for the Admin and Tech team to keep them satisfied in the service to HG community.
We, two senior members (my wife a retired teacher and myself retired MNC employee) are over 70 years. We relocated to HG two years back to assist my daughter's school going children as working parents are not able to support them in their studies. As the situation demand, my daughter and son in law identified the villa for us on rental basis and we moved into this gated community two years back. From a water and power starved North
Chennai to a protected greenery suited our situation comfortably.
Quickly we adjusted to the community style of living. Children after school came home and we assisted them in their studies. Our grand children in V and X std are now very systematic towards their studies. When we moved into the HG villa we carried with us buckets to store water and candles to light up in the event of electric failures. This was lesson learnt from our experience in North Chennai.
One week into the gated community, grand children after school were studying and suddenly there was darkness in the study due to a power outage. We got ready with candles and matches. However, my grand daughter lightly told the grandma; there is no need for candles here. Just close your eyes and count one to five, the power will be switched on. It was true; the use for candles never occurred thereafter. So is the case of buckets which was sold to a scrap dealer and converted to kitchen utensils.
But yesterday when water dried up in the taps we were momentarily shocked disturbing our nap after lunch. Thanks to the administrative and technical team our confidence was restored. We were able to complete the tasks. We express our appreciation and thanks to HG Admin team.
No words to comment on our professor for his outstanding flow of the language. Kudos Annachi. 1971 batch is proud of you.
