BON VOYAGE

FIRST BON VOYAGE
First time, Johny
is going abroad and preparation for the packing is planned in advance. Briefed before hand to be careful about the
touts and co passengers who are likely to befriend for safe custody of some
articles which may land in trouble due to the banned nature of the product or
the likely linking of such products to narcotics etc. Sunday early in the morning his favourite new
black formal pants and white shirt is hand washed and ironed and kept ready for
packing. New hand bag which can carry
lap top and other travel documents purchased from super market is arranged for
packing. For a three day programme
purchases were made to the tune of Rs.30K which is not likely to be reimbursed
by the company. Being a new experience of travel these extravagant spending is
ignored or excused.
Packing was started
only in the afternoon and first thing he enquired about is the new sets of
vanhusen underwear purchased for a comfortable journey. Though it was purchased a week before, two
have been kept in the soiled clothing group for washing and the third one still
under use. Have you washed the new
underwear for packing? Queried the
bon-voyager. Previous three days
weather being inclement, washing was not undertaken and moreover enough clothes
for washing was not in the bin of washing machine. Initial mood of packing
itself was upset and the way he questioned made me really angry. Unloaded from the cub board loads of
underwears in good condition which can also be taken for travel. If he was very particular about the item, he
should have made initial arrangement to see whether important items are ready in
the inventory. This could have triggered
the need for keeping the item ready after hand washed along with pants and
shirt already ironed beforehand. Two
upset guys refusing to face each other!
Before lunch Mom
wanted to cajole the swollen faced son, before the voyage and asked ‘are you
worried over the travel. Something wrong?’ No, the underwear, I have specifically bought
for this occasion and it is not available.
I recalled an incident narrated by him at office with a section manager,
envious of his lavishness in life style using own Honda city car for daily
travel and the week end meeting with other colleagues. He being a Manger could afford only a
two-wheeler. He openly remarked that a
person who can afford only ‘tantex’ underwear should not dream about having
costly Jockey. It may cause itching initially leading to scabies. I thought he went a step further in selecting
vanhusen underwear to defeat the manager.
However, the situation was brought under control before evening with
tempers cooled with a cup of tea and snacks.
Things were packed before time to go to evening mass.
During night
dinner, light tiffin was served as usual.
At 8.30 PM Uber car arrived for the trip to airport. A prayer was made for the safe journey and he
departed happily.

ReplyDeleteThe moron manager owns a car not a bike and I would like to punch his throat for those sarcastic comments.
Bon voyage?! The blog title can be renamed as 'Johny and his superhero underpants'.
