Beauty of writing from new location

My ambition in life is to write something worth reading or do something worth writing.  One day I will find the right words and they will be simple. Writing is like ...., first you do it for love, then you do it for your friends and then you do it for money. You never have to change anything, if you are filled with an urge you will be sleepless to get up in the middle of the night to write.  I have had many such urges but it all ended up as drops of pee in the urinal, but not as words which could be copied in the paper I have kept for this purpose.

How vein it is to sit up to write when you have not stood up to live. If there is a book you want to read but it is not written yet, then you must write it. The beauty of writing is as the writer provide the words the readers give their imagination.  Always start with a place and the character appears on the scene and talk to each other.

Are these imaginations going to take shape as words and figures or going to end up like pictures written on clean water...

I bid adieu to my old house at Ernavoor on 3rd November 2024,  where I lived for 23 years and completed all great commitments to my children.  Their education, job and their marriages.  They are building their family and careers in far away places and am happy for them.  Now nobody is interested to own up and live in this old model but traditional individual houses.  Gated communities and high rise flats with protection has become the trend now a days.  Hence after the marriage of my youngest son in early  2020 I have been trying to sell my house and move to a gated community near my daughter's house.

I had a little hesitation to leave a well maintained garden to the wild. My front facade consist of an arch with Spanish jasmine (jathi malli), red poinciana and yellow tecoma. As you enter the portico two areca palm greeted you on one side and the other ixora coccinea, vincea minor Elba (nitya kalyani) and a colourful crotton.  When you move upstairs a terrace garden of adenium, Mexican petunia and three types of euphoria milli will cool your eyes with red, violet and pink flowers.  The main attraction behind the house is a giant mango tree giving hundreds of fruits equivalent to very expensive miyakasi mangoes every season feeding relatives and local communities as well.  Everything has become a happy memories of the past.

From a small flower garden at Ernavoor we moved to a corporate maintained Humming Garden at Kelambakkam, South Chennai on the OMR road.  Here at the entrance well grown acacia trees on the two sides stood like the ceremonial umbrellas on elephants at Thrissur pooram festival.  After about 200 metres stretch there stood badam trees, Indian cork tree(panneer flower) and golden shower tree( konna flower). The entire one kilo metre stretch was shaded with trees and roads decked with fallen leaves and flowers.  Early morning groups of wren birds flocked the ground twittering and making merry.

The inclement weather and incessant rains from the day we moved to this location is not affecting us as we are in a place where cloudbursts are absorbed in the ground by the rain harvesting system adopted by the planners maintained by a team of over 100 administrative staff. Water logging faced thrice in last three months gave us a feeling of chill from our feet while we were North Chennai when ever heavy rain is forecast in weather bulletin.  Here  we started enjoying heavy rain as we are secure inside.

Let us now wait for the time and place where characters will appear and the viewers the 'beauty of writing'.
